High-quality arabica coffee is grown on each of Hawaii Island's major volcanoes (Hualalai, Kilauea, Mauna Kea, and Mauna Loa), but only the "kona coffee" from west Hawaii is widely exported. In fact, the coffees from each of these volcanoes differ in subtle ways - but we have no idea if this is owing to variations in microclimate or to the slightly differing chemical compositions and ages of these four volcanoes. Whatever, we are striving to make the rare "volcanic coffees" grown from small producers on each of these volcanoes available to Hawaiian Volcano Store visitors, and will include information about the differing host volcanic soils from which these coffees are produced.
