Miranda Farms dark roast Ka'u coffee

Jose Miranda emigrated to the US more than 20 years ago from his native El Salvador.  He and his wife Berta settled on the Big Island several years ago, and with their childrens' help are growing 15 acres of premium arabica coffee high on the Southwest Rift Zone of Mauna Loa.  Their farm, at 1,500' elevation overlies a rocky tholeiitic 'a'a flow that is covered with altered vitric aeolian ash from Kilauea volcano, so that this superb coffee owes its source chemistry to two volcanoes!

 We are presently stocking only their dark-roasted coffee, as we prefer its richer flavor and lower caffeine content to lighter roasts.  For those desiring more "buzz" to their joe, we will be carrying Jose's medium roast after the fall harvest season is in full swing, and new beans are ready to roast.
